DOCNSW 2017 Thunder Rally

Last week of October, 2017

NB: This description has been edited in italics since listing.

The Thunder Rally is a big event on the calendar of DOCNSW and has run each year since 1982. It is a camping style rally at the Sheba Dams Recreation Area near Nundle, 60 km south of Tamworth. It runs from Friday, October 27th to Sunday 29th. It’s all about fun and fellowship.

While essentially a Ducati event, all bikes are welcome. Accommodation options exist in Nundle township for non-campers who book early. More information can be found on the DOCNSW website www.docnsw.org.au

It is proposed a DOCV contingent will leave Healesville on Monday 23rd and arrive at Nundle early afternoon on the Friday. The itinerary involves stops at Jingellic, Oberon, Gloucester and Mount Seaview. This links some great touring on both sides of the border and includes Granya Gap and big-name NSW roads in Bells Line, the Putty, Bucketts Way, Thunderbolts Way and Oxley Highway.

The return is via Tableland Way/Upper Murray and has overnight stops at Lithgow and Tumbarumba. The plan is to be home on the evening of Tuesday 31st.

Distance up is 2000 km over 5 riding days, plus commute to Healesville. Distance home is 1400 km over 3 days. There is only 1 full rest day being Saturday at Nundle. It’s a full schedule and for that reason is rated for experienced, all-weather riders.

More information is available from Geoff Salmon: gsalmon@bigpond.net.au or 0408 533152.

There is no formal registration. For simplicity it will be run as a private group drawn from those in the  Club who express interest. Please make yourself known if you wish to be added to the existing quorum.
