This is a Part 2 to those who wanted to go for a ride last week but were put off by the previous week weather conditions of the day. This is by no means a prerequisite to join a regular Club ride and I would like all club members to attend but it is designed to be welcoming and to ease new members into the culture at DOCV. There will be an extended briefing to explain corner marking, etiquette and expectations. Please arrive comfortably before 9 AM to allow time, as well as for coffee and to meet everyone.
Departure will be 0930 from
Caltex Woolworths ,307 Diamond Creek Rd, St Helens.
I would like all members to attend to welcome in new members.
It is an all-bitumen route to suit the winter season. There is a short freeway section between Kalkallo and Wallan, otherwise it holds a good mix of roads and hopefully a few new ones for many.
The route will start at Caltex Woolworths ,307 Diamond Creek Rd, St Helens.
We will then head west to BP Bulla, 82-84 Bulla Rd, Bulla.
Adjacent to Black Horse Hotel.
From here we will wait for anyone from the western surburbs to join us. This will be approximately 1000 - 1030.
From here we will head north to Lancefield for morning smoko, onto Kyneton in a roundabout way where we will stop for fuel (140 km) then over Mt Macedon for lunch at The Macedon Lounge. The ride will finish at BP Calder inbound around 3 PM.
From here I can lead a ride back to the eastern suburbs. Its up to you.
There is nothing too challenging and it will be kept at a comfortable pace. You are, however, expected to maintain the speed limit in the open sections. Please arrive with appropriate gear and a fullish tank.
Experienced members are encouraged to attend in the spirit of the event. It is a good winter route, your participation helps set the vibe and you never know who you might meet!
New Members can acquaint themself with the club's riding protocols and etiquette here.
