Club Events

The Club run many sorts of events from our fortnightly weekend rides, through to overnighters or weekends away (not to be missed) to our fantastic Fun Day events at the Phillip Island circuit.  This is the place to keep your eye on to see what is happening.

Events may appear here before registration is open. If  the event is a limited-numbers event, there may be a wait list option for you to put your name down in case anyone cancels.

Many events are free, some are not, some events require a deposit or full payment up front, some events have limited numbers.  So, be sure to check the event details by clicking on the event below.  In the event that you are no longer able to attend a paid for event we do have a Refund Policy which you can review here.

Only financial club members may book an event, although unless the event is specified as 'members only', a club member may book for their non-members guests.  Again, check the event details.

Note: all events are run under permit by Motorcycling Australia Permit # MA2517

DOCV make a note. Here is an event you will not want to miss.

I am organising a ride to go the Cathedral of Moto Guzzi.

This is a ride to go to Moto Guzzi heaven and have a BBQ too.

Starting from Platter's Cafe in Diamond Ck at 1000 this ride will take us to

526 Ti Tree Rd , Yea. The Cathedral of Moto Guzzi.

If you are unable to make it on 2 wheels bring the family on 4 wheels.

We are looking for a minimum of 20 people.

If you would like to make a day of it with the family and drive out on 4 wheels that is fine. Just remember it it $50 per person. So when you register make sure you register for 4 people.

    So the more the merrier.

The price for this ride and entry and BBQ is $50.

This includes entry into the Cathedral as well as a BBQ lunch prepared for and cooked by by owner operator Teo Lamers. This includes lunch and tea & coffee.

All you need to bring is yourself and something to drink.

So join me in Diamond Ck for a ride up to the Cathedral and enjoy a fully prepared lunch and then a full tour of Moto Guzzi by owner operator Teo Lamers. Upon completion I am happy to lead you all back to Healesville or Diamond Ck for what will hopefully be a nice days ride with a new appreciation for the Moto Guzzi motorcycle.

“There are many better bikes however you want to look at it, but, to me, a Moto Guzzi is more than just a bike,” says Teo Lamers.

“I know the people who make them. I know the village where they live. I know the restaurants. I’ve been going there for so long. I know how important the factory has been for Italy, for Mandello, to survive after the war.

“It’s the Italian culture, the language, the food, it’s the whole package. Italians are warm-blooded. They have this passion.

“I bought my first Moto Guzzi – a second-hand V700 from 1967 – at the age of about 19. I still remember when I started it up and feeling the engine go ‘boom, boom, boom, boom’. I rode it home and just fell in love with Moto Guzzi the brand from there.

“Riding a Moto Guzzi is a completely different feeling. The DNA of 100 years is in today’s range. The bikes are still exclusive. If you ride one, it draws people’s attention. You don’t get that with other brands.”

The Cathedral’s display is set over three levels with bikes grouped by model semblance to highlight the mechanical evolution. They are also developing a library and bar/café.

Teo has very kindly offered to DOCV and friends a private opening with BBQ for Sunday 8th December. This is your chance to see the incredible private collection of more than 170 Moto Guzzi motorcycles owned by Moto Guzzi doyen, Teo Lamers, who describes himself as a “motorcycle-racist”.

The cathedral located in the beautiful rolling hills of Yarra Valley houses the largest collection of the Italian marque’s motorcycles in the Southern Hemisphere.

In honour of members past I am going to call this the ‘Love Actually’ tour.

This year’s Love Actually tour is the Christmas ride to Walhalla ‘where the souls of warriors who died in battle are received by the god Odin’ in Norse mythology.

Beginning, at the edge of time, at the Butler’s Pantry in Rowville. This ride will take us to through the Erica State forest to the Walhalla Pub where we will dine like god’s for a luncheon fit for kings. Eat , drink and be Merry for the festive season.

Rider briefing and stands up at 0930. Have your tank full and breakfast coffee consumed by 0930

Taking in the magnificent scenery of Gippsland’s finest countryside we will literally traverse the same roads on our return because they are that good.

In  a day that promises to be as memorable as it is God like come and join us for the final ride of 2024 and enjoy a day of twisty after twisty that will leave your wrist and ankle sore of changing gears so often that you will need to wait until 2025 to recover and get your movement back.

A New Year ride is planned for Thursday, Jan 2. It will leave from Diamond Creek and head for lunch at either Strathbogie's revamped General Store or Euroa depending on numbers. A morning break is planned at Strath Creek's new General Store as well in a case of use 'em or lose 'em.

The outward leg is via Highlands/Creightons Crk and the return via Yarck/Limestone in an overall day of 340 km. About 4 km is unsealed Shire road. The ride will finish at Kinglake pub in anticipation of somewhat thirstier weather than last year's Kevington ride. Invited guests are welcome.
